Ook al zijn de daden ellendig en ongewenst, het spel intrigeert je. Middels het verspreiden van een zelfbedacht virus, de plaag, ga je proberen de mensheid uit te bannen.

Alhoewel de mogelijkheid tot het uitroeien van de wereld al in het spel Pandemic bestaat, is Plague Inc. toch een interessante tegenhanger. Jij bent nu de initiator van jouw zelfbedachte plaag. De meest verschrikkelijke ziektes passeren de revue, zoals een bacterie, parasite, nano-virus of bio-wapen.

Je start met het strategisch kiezen van een land, waar de eerste persoon zal worden geïnfecteerd. Zodra meer mensen worden besmet, kan jij zogenaamde DNA-punten verdienen door deze op het scherm aan te klikken. Hiermee kan je vervolgens jouw virus gaan uitbreiden door bijvoorbeeld de infectiesnelheid te verhogen of de symptomen aan te passen.

Naarmate de mutatie van jouw virus excelleert, zal je het wereldnieuws halen. Hiermee wordt ook de ontwikkeling van een medicijn gestart. Rechts onderin beeld is deze ontwikkeling zichtbaar in percentages. Het is natuurlijk zaak dat jij dit medicijn tegenwerkt.

Uiteindelijk kleurt het wereldbeeld rood, en verschijnen er immens grote getallen op de 'doden-teller'. Eenmaal de wereld uitgeroeid? Dan heb je gewonnen.

Je bent continue bezig in dit prachtig ontworpen spel, wat het zeer dynamisch maakt. Alhoewel sommige 'kuchende'-geluiden niet heel prettig zijn om naar te luisteren, worden de moorden gelukkig niet tot in detail zichtbaar.

Kortom
Plague Inc. biedt de speler een krachtig spel, waar je gefascineerd door raakt. Doordat de teller van geïnfecteerde en dode personen onderaan blijft doorgaan, ben je daadwerkelijk geënt op het uitbannen van mensen. De verschillende tools, zijn interessant en worden goed uitgelegd. Hiermee kan je uren zoet zijn.
